Baby Toupee

I'm not sure if the Baby Toupee is made from baby hair or if it's for babies to wear when they lose their hair, but either way, I think Sydney might be able to contribute here shortly.
Last night Dave was 'combing' her hair with his fingers and he ended up with a handful. We can't see where it came out, but we might have a bald baby here soon. I'll give her a bath this morning and we'll see if I find any in the bath water.

Dave's got the camera at work today to see if he can get the pics off the camera.
I'll post again.

Gorgeous day today. Warm and sunny. Last night she slept for 6 hours again. This is working out fairly well. We're thanking God all the time that she's making life so easy on us.

We're a one car family as of yesterday. Dave turned in his leased vehicle. We do have a scooter, which is what he took to work. We'll see how this goes.

Education of Syd

Later in the day Dave returned his leased car to the dealership. Syd and I came to pick him up and while we were there, Daddy gave her the first lesson in fast vehicles. Start with the spendy ones! He doesn't know the trouble he might be getting himself in down the road.

pictures!!!

so, here we are with Oma (Great Grandma Klassen) yesterday.
Oma held Sydney for a good hour. Syd's wearing the dress that she gave her. Grandma was sure that Syd needed to get out of the dress because "it must be uncomfortable." Then she examined her hands and decreed that "your mother did a good job trimming your fingernails." - I'm glad I'm passing the test!
She loves her.

Apology

Don't know who, if anyone I'm apolgizing to, but we're having camera issues. I'll get it fixed.
So, for now, all you get is text. Going to see Oma Klassen today for lunch. Looking forward to seeing her face as she holds Sydney.

4 weeks

Sydney's a month old today. I can't believe it. I've tried to import a picture, but it's not happening tonight. We'll see if we can fix it for tomorrow.

Initiation to Huff Cabin

We had a lovely time at the cabin this weekend. We went up on Sunday afternoon and stayed thru 'til Monday at noon. It was fun to be there again in the spring. Dave and I had such a great experience living there this winter while our house was being built. To be back up there with Sydney on the outside of me was fun. We stayed in the bunk house and it was very comfortable. Sydney slept in her bassinet.

Grammie and Grandpa held her quite a bit. On Sunday the Elder's came up with their boys for the day and I think Russ and Jeanne got a pretty good Sydney fix. The boys saw 5 deer wandering through the neighbor's yard and down by the creek.

Yesterday was foggy and rainy, today looks to be the same, so maybe Syd and I will stay in.

Pooping in the Park

In the park with the bassinet.

Uncle Scott and Dana were playing Cornhole

Yesterday we took an outing to Wash Park. Friends were playing in a Corn Hole tournament (like horseshoes, but you throw "corn bags" into a piece of wood with a hole in it) so we thought that Sydney would like the opportunity to see the park. As it turns out, she was happy to have a big poop in the park. It was a blow out. She was happy though. Got licked right on the face by a dog. Whoops! Mom and Dad weren't watching carefully enough. They say a dog's mouth is really clean right? (but don't they eat their own poop?)

Today we're heading up to the cabin. Syd's going back to the place where she lived for two months while inside me. We'll see if she remembers.

I'll be sure and take pictures there too. We'll be with the Elders and Grammie and Grandpa Huff.

Saturday Morning

She's such a good girl. I know that we're really fortunate that she's so easy.
Last night Dave and I went for dinner. It's great while she's little and sleeping all the time. We're trying to take advantage of it while she's happy to sleep. If you just keep her a little on the warm side you can have a cocktail or a glass of wine, a starter, an entree and maybe even dessert!

Watching movies in a dark house is fun too. The TV screen provides many changes in light and keeps her entertained for a while.

I guess you could say that Dave and I did a modified "dinner and a movie" last night.

After a feeding at 3 and then one at 7:30 this morning, we're up. Syd's not interested in going back to sleep now.

Here she is with her eyes wide open in Dave's arms. Cute huh?

Identifying Nordstrom's scent

Sydney took her first visit to the mall on Thursday. We drove down south and picked up Grandma Willms to go to Park Meadows Mall and introduced her to the beautiful smell of Nordstrom's and the climate controlled safety of the mall.
We used the Mother's nursing lounge at Nordi's and had lunch at the cafe.
We were busy for hours. Syd was a perfect shopping companion. She slept and looked adorable.

This is the life. I can really get used to this.

It's spring, watch her grow

Sydney is now 3 weeks old and is apparently growing like a weed. We've weighed her twice today and have confirmed she's 10 lbs now. (No wonder my arm's getting tired)

I'll post here as often as is reasonable so that those of you who are checking in on her can see how she's changing.

So far we're still trying to figure out her signals and are happy to just be meeting her needs and loving her.

Today Dave had "take your daughter to work day." Nothing like a big distraction of a baby to keep all of the employees on their toes. Syd did great and I had some time to run around and get some errands done. Then on the way home Syd and I stopped by to see one of my Dr.s, who's also a friend from Prenatal exercise class. Sydney was a gem all morning.

We've been using the "g diapers" fairly successfully. There's always blow-outs, but overall they seem to be working pretty well.

That's enough for now. I'll work on posting pictures.
