Such a big girl

It's been a long time since the last post. Quite frankly, it's not acceptable.
Last week we had some good times. We had lunch over at a friend's house, visited great Grandma and Grandpa Huff, went to stroller class, met Grandma at Whole Foods.
Oh, a small side story -
At Whole Foods on Thursday after stroller class and thinking that Sydney would prefer to be out of the hot car seat after almost two hours, I bring her into the grocery store in the front carrier. I get her strapped in and we're walking around the store with my Mom. I look down and my daughter's legs are two different colors. One's purple and the other light pink. I think I was cutting off the circulation. Could have lost both legs if I wasn't checking on her. Good grief. I'm much more careful with that now.

Let's see, Syd is following our movements with her eyes a lot more. She is grasping at things with her little fingers and is smiling up a storm. We're doing our best to get her into more of a regular sleeping schedule. Just watching for when she gets drowsy. Here's a picture of her feeling very relaxed...

Then we tried putting her down in our bed. She looks cute, but didn't like it there for too long.

Dave came home from work on Monday and he and Syd caught up on the day's events.

Little gems

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned the nighttime bathing routine in other posts. This picture was taken before one of those as Syd was already sleepy and Dave had her all scrunched up in his arms. She's just so cute.

Sydney is 10 weeks old now and it seems like in the last day or so she's changed so much. She's holding her head up a lot and can sort of sit on your lap resting her back up against your stomach. Pretty fun. She's also following you with her eyes a lot. I put her in a bouncy seat for a bit this morning and she turned her head and watched me back away, like, "hey, where are you going? I'd rather visit with you and look at this silly jungle."
At least that's what it looked like to me.
She's such a little smiler now too. We can't stand it.

When your camera's on the blink

You improvise - We tried this with the computer today. Just becoming more familiar with the Mac. Please excuse my clothes, it's been a work at home day. Here she is...


So the news from the weekend is that she slept 8 hours on Friday night. It was a glorious thing. She's learning to use her voice and is trying her darndest to fit her whole fist in her mouth. I'm not sure she'll suck her thumb, she might be a fist sucker though. Some of you might suggest a pacifier, a great thought, but she chokes and gags on them. So, I'll just let her continue with the fist.
We've implemented a bit of a bedtime routine and she's getting the hang of it I think. My Mom was over for the bath portion of the nighttime routine and very sweetly pointed out that I might be putting my baby in a hottub- sans jets, every night. Whoops. Syd didn't seem to complain or look too uncomfortable. She has been rather relaxed though.

I've been introduced to the beauty of the Ergo Baby front carrier with infant modifier. Sydney's doing so well in it. She comes along with me while I work around the house. She falls asleep the best when I'm climbing stairs. Perhaps she's trying to help me get an extra work-out in?
Okay, I must run, today's the day I'm going to get these baby announcements out, it's about time, she's almost 2 1/2 months old.

The family

We don't have very many pictures of the family, but Jan took two.

2 month Dr.'s visit

Sydney went to see the Dr. today. She's 9 weeks old and it was time for some vaccinations. Grandma Willms came with us, more for a support for me (Nat) than for Sydney. Sydney is 12 lbs 2 oz, 23.5 inches and is in the 85th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height. She's doing great. Then the sad part, 6 vaccinations, that was pretty owee. Syd cried like I've never heard her, but she was pretty quick to sooth and has been sleeping ever since. She's awfully sweet.

I adore her.
